Even nature favours tyrants

Powerful countries of the world have supported tyrants (you all know who you are), but it appears that even nature favours them. There is never a good time for a natural calamity, but nature timed Japan's earthquake perfectly if it wanted to distract us from the massacre of ordinary people by a tyrant.

So let’s also keep one eye out on the happenings in Middle East and North Africa, and especially on Libya. Let Gaddafi not get the idea that no one is watching.

…and Mr. Obama, I am still one your biggest fans, but let's see if you deserve my admiration. You can swing it, you have the power - the lives of thousands and the fate of a potential democracy hangs in balance.

Thank God for Small Mercies

My heart goes out to the people of Japan, and I hope all those missing are found alive and unhurt.
Even a single loss of life is a tragedy, but what if the earth quake had struck an unprepared, poor and an even more densely populated country. I can't imagine the magnitude of damage to life, and the suffering through the long recovery process if that were to happen. Let's not forget that it's been over a year and Haiti does not even have an accurate death count, and this is a country of just 10 million.

Thank God for small mercies.
